If you won’t take my word for it that a game about mass-transit system design can be a tense, white-knuckle thriller, go play the free in-browser beta of Mini Metro yourself. You’re the administrator of the city’s subway, and stations (and passengers) are popping up all the time. The city, in its bureaucratic wisdom, allocates you just one upgrade per week: a new line, additional cars for existing lines, under-river tunnels and the like.
Last week I heard from Glitchsoft, the makers of that perfectly-styled He-Man mobile game from 2012. The Canadian devs wanted to announce that they were putting the finishing touches on Uncanny X-Men: Days of Future Past for iOS and Android and that it would be available in May. Which very conveniently will land it right alongside the rush of promotion for Marvel’s Tyrion Lannister-starring X-Men film of the same name.
Glu Mobile is gearing up to release their next installment into the Frontline Commando series of games soon and today the company has released the first trailer for the game. In this new game players will play as the commander of an elite squad of mercenaries and fight to protect their squad and exact revenge on their enemies.
Crescent Moon Games is on a pretty good roll with game releases onto Android as of late and today the company has published their fourth game in just over a week called Greedy Dwarf. This game is sort of a race through levels collecting gold type of title.
I do know that the keenly-anticipated expansion to last year’s RPG of the Year runner-up is out right now for desktops on Steam. I’ve asked Harebrained Schemes if they had a target date for when the mobile version of Dragonfall would be released and they replied with their usual circumspection that they did not.
Steve Jackson’s Sorcery! gamebooks have been around for quite some time, originally debuting in 1983. These books were like a sub-series of the Fighting Fantasy franchise and while Tin Man Games is delivering those titles to us, indie game developers Inkle will be bringing the Sorcery! series to us next month.
The Emperor himself would be embarrassed at the wealth of Warhammer-based games on the horizon: Slitherine’s Armageddon wargame, Herocraft’s Space Wolf, and Rodeo’s mysterious and high-tech new project — to name but three.
Noodlecake Studios have announced what their next game for Android users will be and it is called Another Case Solved. This new game is something a little different than the normal release of iOS games being brought to Android by Noodlecake Studios. Usually we get more arcade style games but this one is an adventure puzzle game revolving around solving cases.
Crescent Moon Games has announced what their next title to publish on Android will be Demonrock: War of Ages. This new game is a reverse defense title with dungeon crawling mechanics on top of it and some pretty solid 3D visuals as well.
Angry Birds Rio hasn’t seen an update in awhile but that apparently doesn’t mean the game is dead, especially since there is a sequel to the movie coming out.
